I am thrilled to be the visual arts teacher at Huntington Middle School! This is my sixteenth year teaching art and my thirteenth year within the HMS family.
I grew up in the San Fernando Valley area of Woodland Hills and received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Art from UCLA. I spent my sophomore year of college studying French and Art History abroad at La Sorbonne Universite in Paris. Before I became a teacher, I spent my 20's working at auction houses and galleries throughout the Los Angeles area. I hold a single subject teaching credential in Art and a Masters of Education in Cross-Curricular Teaching. I have professional experience teaching art at all stages of child development at the Primary and Secondary levels in diverse communities with students of varying learning capabilities, styles, and needs. I also have extensive experience developing and implementing a wide variety of art curricula, including drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, and ceramics. I am passionate about art and design of all kinds.
Outside of school, I love traveling as much as possible with my husband and two children, ages 11 and 13. I live in South Orange County and my family and I love to hike and explore the Laguna Canyon trails with our two black Labs, ride our bikes along the Doheny Beach Trail, and spend time BBQing with friends and family.
I am excited to have the opportunity to continue to be a part of the creative experiences and artistic growth of the amazing students at HMS. I believe in every child's ability to learn, develop, communicate, and express him/herself. My goal as an art educator is to inspire my students to believe in themselves, to realize goals that they never knew possible, and to find joy in the creation of art.
